Today, my best friend offered me a great book. Out of the blue!… Just to express her support for this new blog I’m writing. How sweet?!
And believe me, this book is great. I can’t wait to read it. Its subject is just ‘spot on’. This book by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel is entitled Ladies First, 40 Daring American Women Who Were Second to None. It is dedicated to American women who were first in their fields, like Jane Addams who was the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Price, Phillis Wheatley who was the first African-American woman writer to be published, or Emma Hart Willard who established the first higher education institution for women. All of them very inspiring women.
There is one quote I would like to share with you: “I got my start by giving myself a start.” – Madam C. J. Walker, first female African-American self-made millinaire.
More to follow on this wonderful gift…
