Women Voices is dedicated to women, all women of the world, and to peace.
As Malala Yousafzai once said, “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.” In a world torn apart by wars and conflicts, will the voices of women be heard and can they be powerful? I surely hope so. Where hatred and fear of the other seem to have become the standards, getting to know the other by actually giving them a voice and listening to them might give way to more understanding, respect, tolerance and eventually more peace. This is the motivation behind Women Voices.
Behind Women Voices is also a person, Cinderella Verhaert-Dubois. I have always been interested in minorities and in feminism. My first trip to the African continent, to Burkina Faso and Benin, when I was only 12, made a great impression on me. So did my studies on slavery in the American literature and on the image of African-American women in the US popular culture later on.
I hope you will enjoy reading and following Women Voices. Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and comments.
